Yes, the headline says it all. We celebrate a new book with
pictures of cute girls on two wheels. What’s not to like?
The Danes have an actual word for it, “cykelpigen”, which looks
like “cycle pigeon” but actually means “cycling girl”.
Copenhageners have long been used to the sight of attractive women
on two wheels, often dressed in a way that giggles in the face of sensible
cycling — high heels? Mini skirts? But of course!
One Dane whose imagination they captured is Mikael Colville-Andersen,
who set up his Cycle Chic blog in 2006 to record the sartorial
exploits of cyclists (male and female) in his native city.
The site soon began receiving contributions from other
bike-friendly cities such as San Francisco, Vienna and Paris and the
images have now been collected into this book. Here are a few examples,
hopefully running a red light near you soon.
